Inside: Are your kids hungry between meals all.the.time? If you’re drawing a blank on snack ideas, this giant list of healthy, easy snacks for kids is here to help!
He crept up to me with a secretive grin on his face, “Oh Mommmm, you should be scaaared. It’s the ‘H’ word.”
“…Help?”
“Nope,” he grinned. “HUNGRY!” He was right: I winced. Hungry? Again?!
How many times a day can a child ask for food? Turns out a lot. I should know: I have five kids.
Because we homeschool, we are home a lot more than we are not home. And I swear, it’s almost like they plot between themselves to stagger their food asks all.day.long.
We’ve got a lot of neurodivergence going on in our house. For us, that means lowering or eliminating a lot of food “demands” (discover low demand parenting HERE) like…
- Family dinner every night,
- Eating at the table all the time,
- Three “square” meals a day,
- Standard foods at standard times (a.k.a. cereal is for breakfast).
We do a LOT of eating when we’re hungry and grazing. And that means a lot of “snacks”.
Sometimes those snacks are chips. But more often than not (because: questionable nutrition and have you SEEN the cost of chips?!), the snacks are something else on this list of easy snacks for kids.

Now, do my kids eat everything on this list? I wish! This is my dream child – dream parent? – easy healthy snack list.
Homeschool parents: I’ve heard some parents make up a snack platter early in the day to be snacked on throughout the day.
If your kids aren’t picky about temperature, this sounds like a fantastic idea.
P.S. You know where you can get a lot of this stuff cheaper and in bulk? My favorite place of 2025: Costco!

1. Baby Carrots
So easy!
Carrots and dip. Carrots and hummus. Carrots for carrots sake?

2. Rolled Up Deli Meat
Deli meat is not just for sandwiches, people!
Roll those pieces up. Give them some honey mustard or ranch to dip it in.
3. Cheese Sticks
Nothing like a good cheese stick.
Our favorites are Ghiradelli whole milk, but colby jack cheese sticks are also delicious!

4. Apples
I was never one for cutting these up in advance and trying to keep them semi-edible.
I simply peel it and cut it into quarters all around the core.
Or you could slice it into thinner slices and serve it with peanut butter cups for some protein, which will hopefully make it go farther? Hopefully?
5. Bananas
I’m pretty sure God put bananas specifically on earth for easy snacks for kids.
Kidding. But honestly, is there an easier snack? Only downside: they really don’t travel well.
(Again, peanut butter could make this go farther.)
6. Bagel & Cream Cheese
This is actually one food we do NOT get at Costco because they are not pre-sliced.
We splurge on Thomas bagels, but if you can find a local place to get bagels, great.
7. Pepper Slices
These are pretty easy to slice up quickly. Serve with dip or hummus or plain.

8. Mandarins
Some of my kids complain about the pith on these little guys.
If you can serve them already deconstructed and remove as much of the pith as you can, that can help.
9. Cereal
Not all cereals are evil and dripping with sugar.
Honey Nut Cheerios, Frosted Mini-Wheats, Rice Krispies. All not so evil options.
10. Granola Bars
Get any kind of granola bars you like.
For years, my kids rocked the hard honey and oats granola bars. Then they switched to Z-bars, and then they moved to Kirkland chewy chocolate chip granola bars.

11. Muffins
We keep a box of Krusteaz Wild Blueberry muffin mix on hand most weeks. Sometimes, we have packs of mini muffins.
Now are they healthy? My oldest called them, “Bald Cupcakes,” so, ya know. That’s up for debate.

12. Crackers & Cheese
Grab a box of your favorite crackers and some pre-sliced cheese (or pair with the cheese sticks).
We switched to the smaller packages of Ritz crackers because we would waste so many that went stale with the bigger packs.
13. Berries
A delicious, but expensive healthy snack option.
We prefer raspberries because all you have to do is rinse them and eat, plus there are minimal seeds. But you could do blueberries or strawberries, too.
14. Naan with Spread
You can get a big package of mini naan from Costco. They fit perfectly in the toaster.
They can be eaten plain, or you can spread them with anything you like – nutella, jelly, peanut butter, hummus.
Alternatively, you could fill them with shredded chicken (also from Costco) with ranch dressing on top.

15. Trail Mix
You could get pre-made bags, or make it yourself with your kids’ preferences in mind.
Almonds, peanuts, raisins, and M&Ms are some of my personal favorites.
16. Hard-Boiled Eggs
Another hopefully more filling option packed with protein, hard-boiled eggs are a great option to make in the beginning of the week to keep ready to go in the fridge.
Normally I’m anti-extra kitchen gadgets, but if my kids adored hard-boiled eggs, I’d probably be tempted to get THIS adorable little hard-boiled egg cooker to make them quickly and easily.
17. Greek Yogurt with Granola
Again: Costco for the win! We love the Oikos Zero yogurts.
We get tubs of granola from the local grocery store.

18. Pretzels with Dip
Costco has large bags of pretzel thins, which we love, but you can pick a different pretzel.
Dip in nutella or any flavor hummus.
19. Pita Chips with Hummus
Costco has big bags of these for cheap, plus big tubs of hummus. Easy healthy snack!

20. Deconstructed Ants on a Log
Putting together ants of a log is a pain in the butt, so I had the genius idea (that someone probably already thought of) to serve them deconstructed.
Peanut butter cups, celery sticks that can be cut in advance, and a raisin box. Let them dip and put the “ants” on themselves.
21. Country Bread Slices (with Toppings)
Costco’s country bread is so delicious! You don’t even need to toast it.
22. Toast
One of my kids has taken to eating plain toast. He can do it himself, which is amazing!
But cinnamon sugar toast, peanut butter toast, avocado toast, butter and jelly toast. Endless possibilities.

23. Popcorn
Because our favorite popcorn brand stopped being sold in several stores, we just got THIS popcorn maker and bought kernels, instead.
We’re loving it so far. The best part is you can portion it out as individual servings or for a crowd!
(Plus, there are less hydrogenated oils and other additives when you make it this way.)
24. Roasted Salted Almonds
Trader Joe’s has the best affordable salted almonds!
(Costco unfortunately recently switched their brands, and they are WAY too oily.)
25.Frozen Waffles
Leggo my Eggo, baby. Chocolate, blueberry, plain.
Dip them in Kirkland’s real maple syrup, or spread them with other spreads or toppings already mentioned.
26. Frozen Grapes
A friend of mine loved to throw grapes in the freezer.
Her kids love them, especially as an easy, cold summertime snack.

27. Fruit & Veggie Pouches
Costco just started carrying Jennifer Garner’s Happy Farms pouches! I hope this addition sticks around.
You can also get assorted packs of Go Go Squeez at Costco as well, or individual flavor packs at your local grocery store.
28. Mini Naked Juice
These little juices that you can get at Costco are super filling and packed with nutrients!
Probably not as good as the actual fruits, but sometimes in parenthood, you gotta do what you gotta do.
29. Tortilla Chips & Guacamole
Individual guacamole cups make this snack so easy!
You could portion out tortilla chips into snack bags, or simply dish them out of a big bag (again: Costco) at snack time.
